Detailed 10 Days Tanzania Wildlife Safari

Day 1: Arrival in Arusha –Tanzania

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your booked Lodge for a one night stay before your adventure to the west the following morning.

Day 2: Fly to Katavi National Park – Game drives

After breakfast, fly to Katavi National Park a classic dry-season reserve. Katavi is renowned for its huge herds of buffalo during the dry season, spectacular numbers of hippopotamus and impressively sized crocodiles as well as an array of bird species including pelicans, storks and fish eagles, whose cry is synonymous with African water-wildernesses. Chada Katavi sits on the shores of the lake after which it is named and is a small intimate camp with just six tents in traditional safari style.

Day 3&4: Katavi National Park

After having early morning breakfast, you will have 2 full days of game driving viewing in the park in search of the abundance of wildlife this lesser visited park has on offer.

Day 5: Fly to Mahale National Park (Western Tanzania)

After having your morning breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for a domestic flight to the Mahale Mountains National Park that surrounds the shores of Lake Tanganyika. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your booked lodge by boat and enjoy the beautiful sundowner in the evening while relaxed as you wait for dinner then rest.

Day 6&7: Chimpanzee Trekking – Mahale Mountains National Park

In the mornings after breakfast, you will head into the park with your experienced guide in search of the chimpanzees, watching them fighting, grooming and taking care of their young. Many of the chimpanzees in the park are habituated to humans, allowing for some close-range encounters. In the afternoons you will return to the lodge for lunch and spend the rest of the day at leisure, enjoying a boat safari or kayaking along the lakeshore and relaxing with a sundowner overlooking the lake.

Day 8: Fly from Mahale to Tarangire National Park –Arusha

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airstrip for your domestic flight to Arusha where you will be picked and depart for Tarangire National Park which runs along the line of the Tarangire River and is mainly made up of low-lying hills on the Great Rift Valley floor.

It is famed for the largest elephant herds in Africa, the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx and Ashy Starlings. You will conduct an evening game drive.

Day 9: Tarangire National Park – Full Day Game drive

After breakfast, drive to the park for a full day game drive. Enjoy sighting herds of elephants, and also expect to see zebra, eland, mongoose, giraffe, bushbuck, hartebeest, impala, warthog and reedbuck.  Many carnivores are abundant throughout the park such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena and jackal. Enjoy the drive till late evening when you shall retire back to your lodge for a beautiful sundowner, dinner and rest.

Day 10: Transfer back to KIA (Kilimanjaro International Airport)

After breakfast you will be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight back home.
